The Advocacy Committee takes a positive, proactive stand for the preservation, restoration or rehabilitation of historic properties and landscapes by offering a strong voice within the community.

To be compelling, preservation advocacy must acknowledge and utilize best practices to encourage long-term investment in the community. Collaboration with stakeholders is essential to the process, and the Advocacy Committee networks with community leaders and property owners to encourage preservation that is both historically appropriate and economically viable. Committee members cultivate relationships and purposefully explore alternatives in order to safely maintain endangered properties. SPA has developed an Advocacy Protocol, and committee members follow these guidelines to effectively support appropriate restoration, rehabilitation, and adaptive reuse of historic properties in Spokane County.
This committee has been combined with the Heritage Fund committee.
