About the Historic Russell House:
Lucy Russell, and her husband, Wakefield Perry Russell, a Spokane mining investor, banker and business owner, commissioned the construction of the Russell House and made it their primary residence for over 50 years. The house is a fine example of the Tudor Revival style and was erected in 1900, during Spokane's "Age of Elegance," a time when successful businessmen and socialites demonstrated their wealth and social position through the construction, design, and furnishings of large, elegant homes. Architecturally and historically significant, the Russell House is a historic landmark listed on the Spokane, Washington State, and National Registers of Historic Places.

The Historic Richard & Florence Webster House
2522 S. Manito Boulevard
Spokane, WA 99203
The historic Webster House was constructed in 1918 for Spokane Superior Court Judge Richard Webster and his wife, Florence Webster, and is a fine example of the Colonial Revival style. The house is distinguished with Classic cornice returns, modillioned roof eaves, round porch columns, multi-paned windows and doors, wood shutters, and a built-in china cabinet with an S-curved pediment. Reminiscent of 18th and 19th-century Charleston, South Carolina-built homes, the Webster House is uniquely positioned sideways on a double lot which affords a view of a fenced garden and protection from street traffic, a favorite home in Spokane's Manito Park neighborhood.

9th Annual Holiday Home Tour
Lower South Hill at 12th and Adams
SPA's 9th Annual Holiday Heritage Home Tour on Saturday, December 6th, was a great success! Over 500 tickets were sold, resulting in more than $8,000 to SPA! The funds will be given to SPA's Heritage Grant program, which promotes historic preservation in Spokane and Spokane County. Including the homeowners, their families, and people who received free tour tickets because they volunteered their time as tour guides, the four historic homes on the tour were visited by more than 650 people, making this tour the most well-attended of all. A huge "thank you" to fabulous weather, wonderful homeowners, and to all who helped make the 9th Annual Holiday Heritage Home Tour SPA's most successful tour event yet!

This year's weather was vastly different from last year's, when it snowed all day.

The history and/or transformation of a historic house is of great interest.

2008 Annual Holiday Party

SPA's 2008 Holiday Party was a huge success despite the arrival of the season's first extremely chilly temperatures. Over 150 guests enjoyed a variety of beverages and catered appetizers while touring the finely-restored interior of the 1912 Moorehouse-Williams home, owned by Lawrence Stone. It was beautifully decorated with evergreen garlands, live Christmas trees in full regalia, and red poinsettias for the occasion. Guests especially appreciated the detailed information about the home's interior appointments, supplied by friends of the homeowner acting as docents. A spectacular panoramic view of the city's lights was available from all the rooms on the north side of the home.

The two-and-one half storied home is an eclectic blend of stylistic Tudor Revival and Craftsman details. Its interior boasts large rooms with gleaming oak woodwork, doors, and floors, original light fixtures, grand entry with carved oak staircase, a master bedroom with en-suite fireplace, several beautifully tiled bath rooms, a basement game room, and much more. The home was designed by accomplished architect Frank Hutchinson and is listed as a historic landmark on the Spokane, Washington State, and National Registers of Historic Places.

Guests arrive and are welcomed by SPA volunteers.
