Fundraising and Grants

Gala 2008 was a great fundraiser for the Fund.The spring 2008 cycle is closed.  Award announcements will be posted as soon as they are available.

The fall 2007 grant cycle is completed and awards were given to:

  • Spokane Arts Fund was awarded $5000 for the design and construction of a second entry sign to the Nettleton's Addition Historic District.

  • The City of Spokane Parks Department's Moore Turner Gardens was awarded on half of the costs of installing a park bench and drinking fountain at the upper viewpoint (approximately $4000).

  • New Horizon Care Center's James Clarke Mansion was awarded $5000 for the painting and restoring of the porch and outside stairways.

  • Cataldo Catholic School was awarded $1000 for the research and preparation of a historic nomination for the 100-year-old Cutter-designed building.

The spring 2006 grant cycle had awards given to the City of Cheney, $5000; the Women’s Club, $1100; the Olmstead ’08 Centennial Committee, $1000; the Rockwood Neighborhood Council, $1000.00; Spokane ABC Book, $500; and Friends of the Falls, $1000, for a total of $9600 awarded. Thanks to the Heritage Committee for their work on making these wise decisions.

In 2005, awards went to the West Central Neighborhood Council for the design and construction of one entry sign to the Nettleton Addition Historic District ($1000); to the Masonic Temple Association for one-half the cost of repairing the fifth floor ceiling and skylight ($3500); and to the Spokane Antique Carousel Society for the publication of 70 hardback books on historic carousels to be distributed to Spokane elementary schools and city libraries ($1000).

Committee Mission:  The focus of the Heritage Fund Committee is to develop, manage, and make recommendations for allocating resources of the Spokane Heritage Fund.
