Upcoming Projects
The house at 2027 W. Shannon is
the location of the June 14, 2008, Doing-It
project. We will start at 9:00AM and probably
run longer than our normal 12:00 noon quitting
time. We’re doing an "unveiling," taking
inappropriate siding off a historic house. We
will provide food for the volunteers. Volunteers
are asked to wear work clothes and shoes. Gloves
are necessary, as we will be removing aluminum
siding that has sharp edges and nails. We are
going to recycle this aluminum siding so it will
have to be de-nailed. Please bring your hammers
and small crowbars.
Past Projects

Over 39 people showed up for
SPA's January 2008 Doing It project at the
Masonic Center.
Members toured several of the architecturally
interesting rooms, including
seldom-seen features like multistory fly-lofts,
collapsible stage steps (orchestra pit), secret
corridors & beautiful museum-like chambers which
have been in use nearly 100 years.
Volunteers then set to work cleaning some of the historic canvas
scene drops stored above the stage by gently
vacuuming them. Others cleaned a section of the plaster wall in the
auditorium to expose its original appearance.
Doing
It Committee Mission: Brings SPA members and
others in the community together on a monthly
basis to do hands-on preservation work - and to
have fun!
